Looking after your jewellery:

Jessica Mary Design jewellery is handmade to the highest standards.  However, it is made with beauty in mind and some materials and designs are of a delicate nature.

Many of the jewels and gems have been carefully sourced by Jessica and carried back from the other side of the world, so please value these special mementos.

Please treat your handmade jewellery well and wear with care and avoid getting wet, to ensure it remains in the best condition.  Below are some tips to help give your jewellery a good life.

Sterling Silver:
Sterling silver jewellery will naturally start to tarnish, due to by chemicals in the air.  To prevent this we recommend regular wear, and that you clean the product with a soft cloth after each wear.  To remove tarnish, you can polish with a soft cloth or use a silver cleaner, although please be careful if your jewellery contains gemstones or pearls, which could be damaged by chemicals.

Freshwater Pearls:
Perfumes, lotions, makeup and silver cleaners can damage pearls, so please take care.

Faux Pearls:
Please take extra care not to scratch these, as the surface of the bead can be damaged.  In particular, we recommend that you do not store the jewellery with other items (e.g. in a jewellery bowl) which could damage the faux pearls.

Ribbons:
Our ribbons and bows are hand sewn so please take care to avoid damage during wearing and storage.  Ribbons may be discoloured by excessive wear, dirt and makeup, and please avoid getting ribbons wet.  Ribbons which have been threaded through Sterling Silver chain may be discoloured if the silver tarnishes, so please look  after your silver.
If you would like to replace a damaged ribbon and give your jewellery a new lease of life, please contact jessicamarydesign@yahoo.co.uk.

Jump Rings and Clasps:
If any of the jump rings connecting the jewellery become loose, do not continue to wear the jewellery until it has been fixed, to avoid losing any charms or stones.
